Katie Couric Getting Talk Show Offers, 'Dexter' Gets a New Showrunner and More

Katie CouricIf Katie Couric decides not to re-up her CBS News contract when it expires in May, she has plenty of other options.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former 'Today' show host is being approached by multiple syndication companies to host her own daytime talk show.

"She could get in there and command a lot of money," one syndication executive said.

o. 'Dexter' is getting a new showrunner for its sixth season. Scott Buck will take over for Chip Johannessen, who ran the show in season 5. [Deadline]

o. Piers Morgan said he wants the first guest on his new show to be President Barack Obama. The British journalist will take over Larry King's old time slot on CNN starting in January. [Reuters]

o. ABC is developing an American adaptation of the popular Canadian show 'Being Erica.' The series, about a time-traveling therapy patient, stars Erin Karpluk and currently airs on SOAPnet in the U.S. Karpluk said she would like the new version to star a male protagonist. [TV Guide]
