Anna Kendrick Grooves In LCD Soundsystem's 'Pow Pow' Video

'Up in the Air' and 'Twilight' actress says she's a 'pretty lame dancer.'

To follow up the quirky, yet warm and fuzzy (because it's full of guys in panda suits) video for "Drunk Girls," LCD Soundsystem have enlisted some top-notch talent for their second video off This Is Happening, "Pow Pow." James Murphy and company have David Ayer ("Training Day") in the director's chair, along with Oscar-nominated actress Anna Kendrick as their clip's ingénue.

MTV News was lucky enough to visit the Los Angeles set of the video recently, where we chatted with Kendrick about how she came to be a fan of the British electro-dance group, as well as the star of "Pow Pow."

"I didn't have their new album," Kendrick admitted. "But this song is really cool too. The first time [I heard it], I was expecting straight-up melody or something. ... I can hear it every time we do a take, in my head. I'm kind of grooving. I can't help but groove to this song."

Kendrick added that she's a "pretty lame dancer," but that the opportunity was too good to pass up.

"It sort of came out of nowhere," she said of getting the gig. "David [Ayer] came up with this idea and asked me to do it. I've never done anything like this at all, so I was really excited about it. It's been really fun."

The "Up in the Air" and "Twilight" actress said her character in the video is just a normal, unassuming girl, but she's surrounded by enormous bodyguards, and the viewer isn't really sure why. Kendrick added that Ayer encouraged her to turn to a Hollywood classic for inspiration.

"He told me to watch 'Sunset Boulevard,' " she said. "He used that as a reference as what's going on underneath this girl."

Stay tuned for more from our visit to the set of "Pow Pow" and news on when you might expect to see the finished clip.

Jon Stewart Says Farewell to Comedian Greg Giraldo (VIDEO)

Filed under:

Jon Stewart Says Farewell to Comedian Greg Giraldo"The comedy world lost a good man," Jon Stewart said. "... He was just one of those guys you loved to run into, because he was always a font of warmth and good humor." Stewart was speaking of his friend, stand-up comic Greg Giraldo, who passed away this Wednesday, September 29th. Giraldo was 44 years old, and left behind a wife and four children. On 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), Jon took a moment to mourn his friend, as the words "WE'LL MISS YOU, BROTHER" flashed onto the screen.

Giraldo was beloved in the comedy world. He was well-known for his appearances as a judge on 'Last Comic Standing,' and his many appearances on various late night shows and Comedy Central specials. The comic's greatest strength was his unique brand of "insult comedy" -- which he displayed to hilarious effect at the roasts of various celebrities, including David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson and Joan Rivers. (You can watch clips from all his celebrity roasts by going here.)

Lea Michele Goes Topless for Marie Claire UK

Giving fans a glimpse of her risque side, Lea Michele stripped down for a sexy photo shoot adorning the pages of the November 2010 issue of Marie Claire UK.

The covergirl for the monthly magazine, Miss Michele opened up about topics such as how Glee makes her feel beautiful, her infamous nose and nine tattoos, and also how she's a lightweight when it comes to booze.

Talking about partying, Lea reveals, "I can honestly sit down in front of you and say I don?t smoke and I don?t do drugs. I never have and that?s who I am. These days I have one glass of wine and I?m completely gone. I?ve never been a ?Let?s go out and have a cosmopolitan' kind of girl. I don?t even think I?ve ever tasted a cosmopolitan before. I much prefer a glass of wine and a bath at home at night to relax."

Moving on to chat about her hit FOX show, the brunette beauty tells, "We knew it was a great, great pilot, but there hasn?t been a successful TV show that has music in it for, like, ever. Ally McBeal did it kind of; Fame. But for years it hasn?t been done. What I love about our show is that it opens your eyes to a lot of things without being preachy. I feel very equal to my cast and I feel like I couldn?t do what I do without them."

Continuing on, Miss Michele says, "Glee has made me feel beautiful. Now when people say that I don?t feel like they?re lying. Glee has shown me that I am beautiful, that I can be beautiful no matter what I look like, what my weight is. I grew up in a community where what I looked like wasn?t considered beautiful and then I work on this show that proves it doesn?t matter what you look like, that you?re beautiful and that beauty is on the inside and? so, yeah, I?m thankful."

As for her tattoo artwork, the 24-year-old tells that she has nine - with each chronicling a significant milestone in her life.

Lea explains, "I don?t have like a kiss on my butt or anything! They?re all tiny. I mean, you saw me in the shoot today, I was practically nude. Did you see any? No. I?m telling you, I have nine. All so, so, so little."

'Glee' Recap: It's a 'Britney/Brittany' Bonanza/Sex Riot

britneyteacher1.jpgOMGLEE IT'S BRITNEY DAY. I was so excited earlier that I felt like I had to pee a little. But it wasn't pee. It was GLEE. For weeks now I've been so excited for the Glee Britney episode (because I have no life like it's my job and Britney nostalgia like it's a chronic bone disease) that I actually got worried earlier that my brain would explode from happiness poisoning and all I would be able to write is "Durrrrrrrr" all the way down the page.

Even if this recap can't fully capture the Spears-tacular Brit-nanza we just saw (SPOILER ALERT: it can't), look on the bright side: At least these are real words. And, like Dr. Carl says, we should always be doing things that feel good for no reason, like making jokes about a show that has lots of the best jokes around already included. Now let's get our anesthesia on and discuss that Britney Spears sex riot, my little butt sweat stains:

Zac Brown Band Top Billboard, With Maroon 5 Close Behind

Selena Gomez and the Scene debut at #4.
By Gil Kaufman

Photo: Jack Jeffries/ MTV

It was a short trip to the top for Linkin Park. A week after the band's A Thousand Suns hit #1 on the Billboard 200, sales dropped off by more than 70 percent as a pair of newcomers took the lead. Snagging the pole position is last year's Best New Artist Grammy winner Zac Brown Band, whose You Get What You Give will take #1 on sales of 153,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. Just behind at #2 is the chart debut of Maroon 5's third album, Hands All Over, which moved 142,000 units.

They're joined by a number of other top 10 debuts, including a #4 bow by Selena Gomez and the Scene with A Year Without Rain (66,000), rock legend Santana with his covers album Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time (#5, 66,000), John Legend and the Roots' collaborative covers effort Wake Up! (#8, 63,000) and country singer Billy Currington's Enjoy Yourself (#9, 45,000).

The rest of the top 10: Linkin Park (#3, 70,000), Eminem, Recovery (#6, 66,000), Trey Songz, Passion, Pain & Pleasure (#7, 66,000, down 73 percent) and Justin Bieber, My World 2.0 (#10, 33,000). The continued strong sales for Eminem helped the rapper claim the title for the best-selling album released in 2010, as Recovery will surpass Lady Antebellum's Need You Now by crossing the 2.6 million mark.

Otherwise it was a quiet week, as some albums that debuted in the top 10 last week saw serious drops, including country outlaw Jamey Johnson's Guitar Song (down 52 percent to 30,000), Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant's Band of Joy (down 48 percent to 25,000) and Weezer, whose indie-label debut, Hurley, tumbles 18 spots to #24 as sales tailed off by 69 percent to 14,000.

Positive-vibes merchants Michael Franti & Spearhead have a strong debut with The Sound of Sunshine (#17, 18,000), while System of a Down singer Serj Tankian lands at #35 with Imperfect Harmonies (10,000). Maroon 5 have bragging rights on the iTunes albums chart, where Hands takes the #1 spot, followed by Zac Brown, Legend and the Roots, Linkin Park, Santana, Eminem, the resilient Sigh No More by Mumford & Sons, Songz, Gomez and Spearhead.

Though sales figures are not released, Bruno Mars should be smiling that he's holding onto the top slot on the iTunes singles chart with his breakout solo hit, "Just the Way You Are." Just behind are Far East Movement with "Like a G6," Rihanna with "Only Girl (In the World)," Nelly's "Just a Dream," Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream," Usher's "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and Taio Cruz with "Dynamite." Rounding out the singles chart is Flo Rida's "Club Can't Handle Me" and two new entries from the "Glee" cast, "Empire State of Mind" and "Telephone."

There will be more shuffling at the top next week with the debut of new albums from Gucci Mane, Kenny Chesney, Jeremih and Eric Clapton.

Kanye West Recruits Swizz Beatz, Raekwon For 'Lord, Lord, Lord'

G.O.O.D. Friday joint also features Mos Def and Charlie Wilson
By Mawuse Ziegbe

The G.O.O.D. Fridays keep rolling on.

Kanye West dropped his weekly gratis track early Saturday (September 18), and this week's offering, "Lord, Lord, Lord," is heavy on silky soul and laid-back flows. Boasting verses from lyrical luminaries Mos Def and Raekwon and fellow producer/MC Swizz Beatz, as well as hearty riffs from R&B heavyweight and favored West vocalist of late Charlie Wilson, "Lord" features more of the smoky throwback feel the MC has dished out on tracks like "Devil In a New Dress" and "See Me Now."

West apparently tinkered with the song until, literally, the midnight hour, tweeting late Friday, "Swizz laying his verse ... it's almost midnight #GOODFRIDAYS." Swizzy quipped that he and the Chicago MC had to fudge the Friday deadline for East Coast fans. "GOOD FRIDAY IS ON LA TiME TONIGHT LMAO!" he tweeted.

However, the resulting track has none of the rushed energy you might expect from a five-artist collabo completed just hours before hitting the Web. It is instead a graceful seven-minute-long joint highlighting each contributor's distinct swagger.

Mos opens the track, gliding through cerebral rhymes like, "Cool ruler standing still, sweatin' through the shade/He knew those lights only grew bright to fade/Dead-wrong pageantry, lottery and games/Sleight of hand provided by extravagant and fake."

West follows with a punchier delivery, rattling off lyrics such as, "I got lines that's better than n----s albums, plural/king of the urban, make ya sh-- sound rural."

Then Swizz shows off the fruits of his late-night session, jumping in with "All-white Bentley, I call that 'Mama'/my life crazy, like Obama's."

Wu-Tang Clan elder statesman Raekwon rides out the track with lines like, "Open glass on my fingers/I sit back like I'm caged but still cakin,' my n----s is hatin.' It's like being in the livest Lambo in the hood, you a piece of steak/I'd rather be that then some bacon," before recounting days living "amongst fiends, countin' currency, hittin' blunts."

What do you think of Kanye West's new track "Lord, Lord, Lord"? Let us know in the comments below!

'NCIS' Season 8, Episode 2 Recap (VIDEO)

['NCIS' - 'Worst Nightmare']

One of the virtues of a successful series like 'NCIS' is that as time goes by, the show attracts better and better guest stars. Last year there were episodes with Gena Rowlands and Robert Wagner. Tonight, there were two more excellent guests, William Devane and Sam Anderson.

Devane is recognizable from dozens of TV shows ('Knots Landing') and appearances, and Anderson was most recently -- and famously -- Bernard, one of the passengers on Oceanic 815 on 'Lost.' The presence of these two actors added a lot to the mystery angle of the program, as 'NCIS' delivered another strong episode.

LeAnn Rimes Returns to LA, Cancels Conway Concert

Always the frequent traveler, LeAnn Rimes was spotted touching down at LAX Airport in Los Angeles, CA on Saturday (September 25).

Seeming a bit shy, the country singing cutie covered her face as she passed through the arrivals terminal en route to an awaiting chauffeured ride.

Loving the weather on the west coast, Miss Rimes tweeted upon hitting the homefront, writing, "It's so hot in Cali! Wow gonna go grab a bikini and enjoy it in my back yard!!"

Seemingly getting a bit of an illness overnight, LeAnn has since announced that she's canceling a gig in Conway scheduled for tonight (September 26).

She wrote, "To all my friend and fans in Conway, the show tonight is being rescheduled. I'm terribly sorry! Since yesterday late afternoon, I have had severe stomach pain and sickness. Please know if I could make it there I would, but there's no way I can get on a plane right now. I WILL get to you very soon. I hate that these things happen, my deepest apologies. Love to you all!"

'Wall Street' Brings In Box-Office Bucks

'Money Never Sleeps' takes $7 million in theaters on Friday.
By Mawuse Ziegbe

The Box-Office Top Five

#1 "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" ($7 million)
#2 "The Town" ($5 million)
#3 "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" ($4.6 million)
#4 "Easy A" ($3.6 million)
#5 "You Again" ($2.8 million)

Proving money still talks — at least, to moviegoers — "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" took the top spot at the Friday box office. Michael Douglas' return as Gordon Gekko, 23 years after he powered the cautionary money, power and success tale of the original "Wall Street," rang up $7 million in ticket sales.

Another cash-grabbing flick, "The Town," also scored big with audiences, landing in the second-place slot. The film, which follows vault looters (Ben Affleck), ladies (Blake Lively and Rebecca Hall) and the law (Jon Hamm) as they get caught up in the nefarious Boston bank-robbing underworld, made $5 million. The haul brings the movie's total estimated tally to just over $38 million since its debut last Friday.

The Friday top five wasn't all about money grubbing and shady ethics. The animated feature "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" debuted in third place. Adapted from the children's book series by author Kathryn Lasky, and boasting voice-over performances from Helen Mirren and Geoffrey Rush, the kid-friendly fantasy flick raked in an estimated $4.6 million.

The high-school comedy "Easy A" continued to turn in good marks at the box office. Featuring a cast of young Hollywood names, including Emma Stone, Penn Badgley and Amanda Bynes, the flick pulled in $3.6 million during its second Friday on screens.

Rounding out the top five with a tale of post-high school awkwardness is "You Again." Audiences plunked down $2.8 million to catch Kristen Bell's turn as a successful PR professional grappling with the fact that her brother's fiancé is her onetime schoolyard nemesis.

Check out everything we've got on "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps," "The Town" and "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole."

An Exclusive Clip from 'Rubicon' and Intel From Star James Badge Dale

Filed under: Reality-Free, Stay TunedWhen it began, it wasn't quite clear what 'Rubicon' was -- a moody evocation of films like 'Day of the Condor'? An introspective character drama? A post-9/11 espionage thriller?

If you gave up early in the AMC show's debut season, come back. As I wrote here, the conspiracy aspect of the show is proceeding at a satisfyingly brisk pace, but 'Rubicon' is often even more effective as a psychological study of thoughtful individuals doing an odd, difficult job.

Being an intelligence analyst is "a very strange life," 'Rubicon' star James Badge Dale said in an interview. "In some ways, it's the antithesis of the human experience -- you voluntarily put yourself into a void, into a vacuum."

Dale, who plays analyst Will Travers, and executive producer Henry Bromell spoke recently about 'Rubicon' and its dual identities as a unique office drama and a meditation on personal and political trust. Read on for much more (non-spoilery) intelligence from Dale and Bromell, as well as an exclusive clip from Sunday's episode ( 9PM ET, AMC). Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
